JOB PURPOSE:
- Provide technical support for cardiology services at FUH and ensure optimal clinical care and safety of patients.
- Work within a multidisciplinary team with a personalised and caring attitude.
- Participate in public health awareness initiatives.
- Participate in training programs as required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
By means of a thorough, comprehensive and holistic approach carries out imaging and non-imaging cardiovascular evaluations of patients with cardiovascular diseases or disorders, under the direction of the referring Cardiologist. These procedures include but are not limited to:
• Echocardiography (including trans oesophageal examination)
• Electrocardiography
• Stress tests
• Holter monitoring
Ensures consistent, accurate and detailed documentation of patient encounters as per policy.
Other duties as reasonably requested by the Section Chief , Chair or Chief Medical Officer.
Reviews with the Cardiology Chief, adverse events, problem incidents and complaints, and explores all opportunities to improve the quality of care and provide recommendations regarding risk management.
Participates in a quality assurance program for Cardiology services and monitors key performance indicators
Assists the cardiology Chief in the development of best practice guidelines and protocols.
Participates in change management programmes within the organisation.
Participates in improvement initiatives within the department.
Deals appropriately with complaints when necessary.
Takes an active part in the induction and orientation of new staff.
Attends directorate departmental meetings as scheduled.
Supports the mentorship of designated staff.
Complies with the organisations policies, procedures and work instructions and commits to the organizations Employee Code of Conduct.
Complies with the Health and Safety regulations of the organization and regulatory body.
Fosters interdepartmental liaison.
Promotes efficient and effective communication within the organisation.
Promotes health awareness to patients and their families.
Demonstrates and affirms a commitment to Continuing Medical Education (CME)
